Jersey Shore Roller Girls: The Jersey Shore's only all girl roller derby. The girls are great and the sport is about as fun as it gets. Hit up their site to find out what's going on Jersey Pride: The title says it all Save Barnegat Bay: A not-for-profit environmental group working to conserve undeveloped natural land and clean water throughout the Barnegat Bay watershed. Please pay them a visit and help to protect the environment of the Jersey Shore Citizens Right to Access Beaches: This is a non-profit organization set up to help protect the beaches of the Jersey Shore from privatization. Based out of Point, they are fighting to ensure the Jersey coastline remains accessible to locals and everyone else. Please visit their site, read about the issues, and help keep our beaches safe from development. Lacey Rail Trail: A grassroots organization dedicated to watershed improvement, habitat protection, ecological stability and pedestrian safety issues in Ocean County. Surfrider Foundation: This is the Jersey Shore chapter of a grassroots, non-profit organization seeking to protect the oceans, waves, and beaches Marine Terrace Ocean Terrace Seaview Avenue Alliance: Another non-profit organization set up to defend the greater Long Branch area from the abuse of eminent domain Save Tillie: Help to protect the irreplaceable icons of the Jersey Shore. Tent State University: This is a student movement which began at Rutgers working to fix the problems of our educational system through the implementation of true democracy and student participation. Pay them a visit and get involved. New Jersey: The Movie: Steve Chernoski's full-length documentary film, created to determine where the dividing line is between North and South Jersey. We anxiously await its release. Definitely check it out. The Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean: Helping those who need is most is at the center of what it is to care for your community and those within it. This charity organization works every day to ensure that those less fortunate than ourselves have food on their plates. The least we can do is support that incredibly commendable action. View Askew: The cinematic production studio from Jersey Shore local Kevin Smith - the man behind such classics as the Clerks films and the proprietor of Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank. We'll never look at a Jersey convenience store through the same eyes and that's a good thing. Weird NJ: A travel guide to places you won't find on state maps or located on any tourist attraction pamphlets. The Bayonne Bleeders>: While perhaps best known in the shore area for the song I'm a Benny, this group from Hoboken are one of the most talented and legimate acts around. Definitely head by their site and give their songs a listen - we promise you won't be disappointed. These guys know what it is to be from Jersey, and they have our utmost respect. |
